For those who know my husband well, he has wanted to name one of our boys Virgle after his father. Well, for obvious reasons, I have not wanted to do this. Clinton's father never went by his first name of Virgle, but by his middle name of Clinton.
Tonight, Clinton attended a Parent/Child Book Discussion with Anna where he made a doll he named affectionately as "Virgle". I think we are done having children, but if the Lord chose to bless us with another child, and it was a boy, Virgle is off the list since Clinton already has one! :)
Mrs. Love, our school librarian, and another Meadowview teacher have started a Book Club Discussion Group this year. Any 3-5th grader could join. They meet every few months. The first book the group read was "James and the Giant Peach". This time they read, "Esperanza Rising". The book deals with different cultures which is appropriate for our school since it is so culturally diverse.
Anna and Clinton both enjoyed the book. The club discusses the book for a short period, they offer a project or two to do, and refreshments. The character in the book is hispanic so the refreshments were guacamole and chips along with a drink. The two project options were coloring a 9-inch paper quilt block about the book and making rag dolls (or yarn dolls), similar to the one the book talks about. Tonight they asked if the group would be interested in meeting one more time this school year and I guess they loved the idea.
I love seeing Anna involved with school, her dad, educating herself, and having fun. Way to go Clinton and Anna. Great job on your dolls!
